Free Birth Chart Calculator

Your full natal chart in seconds: planets, houses and aspects, with no account needed.

In short

A birth chart is a map of where the Sun, Moon and planets stood in the sky at the moment you were born. To calculate yours you need your birth date, birth time and birthplace. Enter them above and TarotDew draws your wheel chart, Big Three, houses and aspects instantly. It is free, needs no sign-up and has no ads.

Key facts
  • Free, no sign-up: chart wheel, Big Three, Sun to Pluto, North Node, Midheaven, Placidus houses and aspects with orbs.
  • Positions are computed in-house with astronomy-engine, accurate to well under 1°.
  • City search with historical time zones, so older birth times convert correctly.
  • Your birth data stays in your browser.

Example reading

Input: Born 14 March 1994, 08:20, Lyon, France

Result: Sun in Pisces (23 degrees), Moon in Aries (16 degrees), Rising sign Taurus (just past 1 degree). Venus also sits in Aries, close to the Moon, so feelings tend to arrive fast and show on the surface. The Taurus Ascendant adds a calm, steady first impression. Because the Ascendant is so near a sign edge, a birth time off by a few minutes could change it, which is a useful reminder to double-check the time.

What a birth chart shows

A birth chart, also called a natal chart, is a snapshot of the sky from your birthplace at your exact birth time. It is drawn as a circle split into twelve houses, with the zodiac signs around the rim and each planet placed where it was at that moment.

Astrologers read three layers together. Planets describe what is being expressed, such as emotion, communication or drive. Signs describe the style, and houses describe the area of life where it plays out. The angles between planets, called aspects, show how those pieces talk to each other.

Most people start with the Big Three: your Sun sign (core identity), your Moon sign (emotional habits) and your Rising sign (the way you come across). Those three alone already explain why two people with the same Sun sign can feel so different.

Treat the chart as a mirror for reflection, not a verdict. It can give you words for patterns you already notice, which is where its real value lies.

Why birth time and place matter

The Sun changes sign roughly once a month and the Moon every two to three days, so a birth date alone gets you close. The Rising sign and the houses are different. They depend on which degree of the zodiac was rising over the eastern horizon, and that point moves all the way around the wheel in about 24 hours.

That is why birth time and place both count. A birthplace sets your latitude and longitude, which fix the horizon. The city search handles historical time zones and daylight saving changes, so a birth in 1971 is converted to universal time using the rules that applied then, not today's.

  1. Find your birth time on a birth certificate or hospital record if you can.
  2. Pick your birth city from the search so the right coordinates and time zone are used.
  3. If you only know an approximate time, read the Sun, Moon and planet signs with confidence and treat Rising sign and houses as a rough guide.
  4. Compare your chart to a second source such as a precise birth record before relying on the Ascendant.

How accurate is the calculation

Planet positions are calculated in-house with the open-source astronomy-engine library, which uses VSOP87-based models in the NASA JPL class of accuracy. Positions are accurate to well under one degree, far finer than an astrological reading needs.

Houses use the Placidus system, the most common choice in Western astrology. Placidus divides the time it takes each zodiac degree to travel from the horizon to the Midheaven, so houses are rarely equal in size. Other house systems exist, and they can move a planet from one house to the next, so it is normal to see small differences between calculators.

A few degrees of difference in the Ascendant or a house cusp almost always traces back to the birth time or the house system, not to the planet maths.

How to read your chart in five minutes

  1. Start with the Big Three and write one sentence for each in your own words.
  2. Look at the houses your Sun and Moon sit in to see where your energy and feelings naturally go.
  3. Scan the aspect table for tight orbs under about 3 degrees, which are the loudest connections.
  4. Notice any clusters of planets in one sign or house, since that area of life tends to feel busy.
  5. Save the chart and revisit it after a week; patterns you ignored on day one often stand out later.

Frequently asked questions

Is this birth chart calculator really free?

Yes. The wheel chart, Big Three, planet positions, houses and aspect table are free with no sign-up and no ads. Paid options exist only for extras such as a downloadable Birth Chart deep dive report, which is a one-time purchase, never required to see your chart.

What do I need to calculate my birth chart?

You need your birth date, birth time and birthplace. The date and place are essential, and the time decides your Rising sign and houses. Pick your city from the search so the correct historical time zone and daylight saving rules are applied automatically.

What if I do not know my birth time?

Try a birth certificate, hospital record or a family member's memory first. If you still cannot find it, your Sun sign and planet signs are still reliable, but treat the Rising sign, Midheaven and houses as rough, because they change about every two hours.

Which house system does TarotDew use?

TarotDew uses Placidus houses, the most widely used system in modern Western astrology. Other systems such as Whole Sign or Equal House can put a planet in a neighboring house, so small differences from another calculator are normal and do not mean either one is wrong.

How accurate are the planet positions?

Positions come from the open-source astronomy-engine library and are accurate to well under one degree. That is more precise than astrology needs, since readings use whole degrees and signs. Any larger gap compared with another chart usually comes from a different birth time or time zone.

Is my birth data saved or shared?

Your birth data stays in your browser unless you choose to share a link to your chart. You do not need an account, so there is no profile storing your details. Clearing your browser data removes it from your device.
