This tarot card generator draws 1, 3, 5 or 10 random cards from the 78-card deck, or from the 22 Major Arcana or 56 Minor Arcana only, with reversed cards on or off. It uses your browser's cryptographic random generator and never repeats a card within one draw. Each result links to the card's full upright and reversed meaning.
- Draw 1, 3, 5 or 10 cards, no repeats within a draw.
- Pool: full deck (78), Major Arcana (22) or Minor Arcana (56).
- Reversed cards optional.
- Uses crypto.getRandomValues for the shuffle; free, no sign-up.
Example reading
Input: 5 cards, full deck, reversals on
Result: A writer used this draw as a character prompt: a restless traveller (Knight of Wands) who cannot trust what they see (The Moon), juggling two jobs (Two of Pentacles), guided by an intuitive friend (Queen of Cups), until one clear truth cuts through (Ace of Swords).
What a card generator is good for
- Studying: draw a card, guess its meaning, then check.
- Writing prompts: characters, plot turns and moods from a random draw.
- Journaling: one card as a theme for the day's entry.
- Games and art: random cards for tabletop, illustration challenges or classroom activities.
- Readings: if you want structure, switch to a spread so each card has a position.
How the randomness works
The generator runs a Fisher–Yates shuffle on the chosen pool using crypto.getRandomValues, the same source browsers use for security keys. Every card has an equal chance, and a card cannot appear twice in one draw. When reversals are on, each card independently has a 25% chance of landing upside down.
Nothing is sent to a server for the draw, so it works instantly and nothing about your draw is stored.
How to use the generator
- Choose 1, 3, 5 or 10 cards.
- Choose the full deck, Major Arcana or Minor Arcana.
- Turn reversed cards on or off.
- Generate, then tap any card name to read its meaning.
- Share the result as an image if you want to keep it.
Major only, Minor only, or full deck?
Major Arcana draws give broad, symbolic themes, which suit big questions and story outlines. Minor Arcana draws give concrete everyday detail, which suits practice with suits and numbers. The full deck mirrors a real reading.

Frequently asked questions
Is the tarot card generator truly random?
Yes. It uses crypto.getRandomValues and a Fisher–Yates shuffle, so every card in the chosen pool is equally likely.
Can the same card appear twice?
Not within one draw. Each draw is taken from a freshly shuffled pool without replacement.
How many cards can I generate?
1, 3, 5 or 10 at a time, as often as you like.
Can I generate only Major Arcana cards?
Yes. Choose Major Arcana (22) or Minor Arcana (56) above the draw.
Is a generated card a tarot reading?
It can be, but a reading usually assigns positions. For that, use the tarot reading page.
Does it cost anything?
No. The generator is free, needs no account and shows no ads.
