Your tarot year card is found by adding your birth month and day to the year you want to read, then reducing the total to a Major Arcana number. For a July 15 birthday in 2026: 7 + 15 + 2026 = 2048, 2 + 0 + 4 + 8 = 14 Temperance, with 5 The Hierophant as its root. The year runs birthday to birthday. Example reading
Input: Birthday July 15, year 2026
Result: 7 + 15 + 2026 = 2048, and 2 + 0 + 4 + 8 = 14. The 2026 year card is 14, Temperance, reduced to 5, The Hierophant. The theme is balance and steady progress, supported by learning from a trusted teacher or course. A good year to build habits slowly rather than make dramatic changes.
How to calculate your tarot year card
- Write your birth month and day, then the year you want to read, e.g. 7, 15 and 2026.
- Add them together: 7 + 15 + 2026 = 2048.
- Add the digits of the total: 2 + 0 + 4 + 8 = 14.
- If the result is above 22, add its digits again. The number from 1 to 22 is your year card.
- Reduce a two-digit card once more for its root, e.g. 14 → 1 + 4 = 5.
When does a tarot year start?
Most readers count a personal year from one birthday to the next, so a card for 2026 applies from your 2026 birthday until the day before your 2027 birthday. Some prefer the calendar year. If your birthday is late in the year, read last year's card alongside this one for the months in between.

Frequently asked questions
What is my tarot card for 2026?
Add your birth month, birth day and 2026, then reduce the digits to 22 or below. The calculator above does it for you and shows the steps.
Is the year card the same as the birth card?
No. The birth card uses your full birth year and stays the same for life. The year card swaps in the year you are reading, so it changes every year.
Can I check past or future years?
Yes. Enter any year from 1900 to 2100 to see the card for that year.
What if my year card is The Tower or Death?
They describe change, not disaster. A Tower year often clears out something that was not working; a Death year closes one chapter so another can start.
Is it free?
Yes, free and unlimited with no sign-up.
